Purpose: Demonstrate the organization's support of the community by providing assistance to female-based social service agencies/organizations/institutions whose primary focus is African American. The major responsibilities include:
- Specify emerging and special needs of the community
- Determine appropriate assistance that can be provided
- Identify plausible emerging community organizations/group that may be addressing community needs and form alliances
- Build relationships with social services agencies, churches, and institutions
- Seek opportunities for organization to serve as mentors to young adults and/or entry-level professionals.
- All POW members will determine a community service goal (set in hours) per year. The Community Service Committee chair(s) will monitor all hours and update the General Body monthly on progress.
- The POW Community Service partner is voted on by the General Body and is presented a monetary donation by POW at the Professional Forum.
- The Community Service partner that receives that donation will be the organization that POW. This partnership is not exclusive within POW, but POW will provide services to this group (specifics of program at the discretion of the Community Service Committee).
